14 June 2019:
PLEASE NOTE WE HAVE REVISED OUR ENTRY CRITERIA FOR 2019
A ‘broadcast credit’ for the purposes of entry criteria can be for a one-line or one time joke, but it must have been credited to the entrant(s) on air or online, with written proof of that credit/payment, if the credit is no longer visible online. Entrants can also be credited as a regular contributor to a programme or a writer/co-writer to a one-off comedy broadcast.
A little bit about the trust
Welcome to a new charity, established in memory of David Nobbs, one of the UK's leading comedy writers, who died in 2015. We plan to award a dedicated one-off grant to a limited number of new comic writers each year to allow them to finesse their craft.
In conversation, David said that, when he was starting out, he sometimes wished he’d had a few quid put aside to ‘buy’ the time to finish whatever he was working on.
Our goal is to give up-and-coming comedy writers an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of one of the country’s all time comedy greats. This could be your chance to win that grant to help carve out some precious time to perfect your craft - and make people laugh along the way.
